Community Technology Access (CTA) Centres

Windle International Uganda Community Technology Access (CTAs) centres are community-based facilities aimed at providing access to information and communication technologies (ICT) to underserved populations in Uganda. The CTAs centres typically offer various services, including:

The CTAs provide ICT training programs to refugees and host communities on basic computer skills, digital literacy, and other relevant technologies. The youths are trained in ICT essential packages that consist of Introduction to Computing, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Introduction to the Internet. This empowers individuals with the skills necessary to participate in the digital economy and access online resources.

They also provide access to the internet, allowing community members to browse the web, access online educational resources, communicate with others, and seek information relevant to their needs.

The CTA centres serve as a valuable a platform for applying for scholarship opportunities, including the DAFI (Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative) scholarship. They provide community members with access to computers, the internet, and relevant educational resources. This enables individuals to research scholarship opportunities, eligibility criteria, application deadlines, and other pertinent details related to the DAFI scholarship program.

CTAs staff also offer guidance and support to individuals seeking to apply for the DAFI scholarship. They help applicants navigate the online application portal, fill out forms accurately, and compile necessary supporting documents, such as academic transcripts, recommendation letters, and personal statements.

Besides the ICT skills, the CTAs offer youths an opportunity to engage in outdoor and indoor events such as football, basketball, volleyball, cultural galas, brass band, Ludo, snakes-and-ladders, draughts and pool. This is done to nurture and promote youths’ talents in order to improve their skills and mental health and build on the successes of peaceful coexistence among refugees and host communities. Through skills development, arts, and community engagement, CTAs are promoting peaceful coexistence and economic empowerment, paving the way for a harmonious future.
