Windle International Uganda, for the second year running, has been named Best International Humanitarian Organization in providing Education of the Year 2020.

Windle International Uganda named Best International Humanitarian Organization 2020

Windle International Uganda has for the 2nd year running been named the Best International Humanitarian Organization of the Year 2020 at the Visionaries of Uganda Awards, announced in Kampala last night, Thursday 03 December 2020.

The chief Justice of Uganda presented the special recognition to WIU at the top National awards ceremony, which was presided over by The Vice-President of the Republic Uganda, H.E. Edward Ssekandi Kiwanuka who in his speech urged the Visionaries to continue setting the pace as the best in the country. The awards were launched in 2012 by President Yoweri Museveni to recognize organizations and initiatives who are key drivers towards the socio-economic transformation of the country, in line with the government’s Vision 2040 strategic development plan to ‘transform Ugandan society from a peasant to a modern, industrial and prosperous country within 30 years.

Accepting the Award, Windle International Uganda’s Executive Director, James Aryam, said: “It is a huge honor for the organization, its partners, staff and stakeholders to be receiving the Top award for the second year in a row. This award strengthens our vision and mission to providing access to quality education to our persons of concern and host community. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic which forced the Country to shut down all the education institutions early in the year, WIU with support from partners continued to facilitate home learning initiatives to all its learners, by providing home learning materials, Radio programming and home visits by teachers.
