Windle International Uganda Wins Best International Humanitarian Organization of the Year Award

Windle International Uganda (WIU) was for the third time named the Best International Humanitarian Organization of the Year 2022 at the Visionaries of Uganda Awards that were held on Thursday, 24th of November 2022 at Serena Hotel in Kampala.

The award ceremony is held every year and recognises outstanding companies in various sectors contributing to attainment of Uganda’s Vision 2040. They were launched in 2012 by President Yoweri Museveni to recognise organizations and initiatives that are key drivers towards the socio-economic transformation of the country, in line with the government’s Vision 2040 strategic development plan to ‘transform Ugandan society from a peasant to a modern, industrial and prosperous country within 30 years’.

This year, the Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development (Minerals), Honorable Peter Teko Lokeris presented the special recognition to WIU at the 10th Visionaries of Uganda National Awards Ceremony, which were presided over by the Minister of Public Service, Honorable Wilson Muruli Mukasa.

“I am recognising the outstanding figures who have immensely contributed to the stabilization of our economy which has suffered at the hands of external factors of international wars, outbreaks of global pandemics like COVID19 and Ebola.” He congratulated the Visionaries upon their awards and urged them to continue with the great work they are doing.

“Winning this award is no mean feat, and it was only possible through the support of various donors and partners. It is also for this reason that we continue to constantly innovate with focus on delivering quality education and training opportunities for refugees and host communities,” Andrew Omara, Executive Director, WIU said.

“I would like to thank all our partners and funders who continue to make it possible for us to fulfil our mission and vision. I would also like to thank our staff for the tremendous job. This award would not have been possible without them.”
